In The Spotlight

Arab-American Comedy Tour, The
2006, Ahmed Ahmed, Dean Obeidallah and Maysoon Zayid, 95 minutes.

This delightful collection by three of the most-wanted and funniest Arab-American comedians was recorded in front of audiences in Dearborn, Michigan and Seattle, Washington. The insightful, one-of-a-kind comedy routines of Maysoon Zayid, Dean Obeidallah and Ahmed Ahmed evoke the familiar adage, “laugh and the world will laugh with you.”

From racial profiling to the myriad Arab stereotypes, these daring performers shed light and humor on what it means to be Arab-American in today’s political climate and at all major airports. No passport necessary as comedy is universal.

Ahmed Ahmed is the Winner of the first annual Richard Pryor Award for ethnic comedy at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival in Scotland summer of 2004 and a veteran of T.V., films and the comedy stage. His current work includes regular performances at The World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood and touring with the Comedy Central Presents. . . "The Axis Of Evil Comedy Tour".

Dean, who was at one time a practicing attorney, is proud to have received the first annual "Bill Hicks Spirit Award" for "thought provoking comedy" from the NY Underground Comedy Festival and the Hicks' family. He has appeared in the "Axis of Evil" TV special on Comedy Central and is the co-creator of Comedy Central.com's "The Watch List," featuring a cast of all Middle Eastern-American comedians performing stand up and sketch comedy, now being developed for a regular cable time slot.

Maysoon Zayid was the first comedian to perform standup live in Palestine, performing in Nazareth, Haifa, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Jerusalem. She has performed on Comedy Central's The Watch List and has had numerous dramatic television roles and made appearances on news and public affairs programs. In the fall of 2006, she debuted her one woman show Little American Whore at L.A.'s Comedy Central Space. She is currently in pre-production for the film version of her life story to be released in November 2008.
